Halloween celebrations for 2021 have now come and gone – but for those who were at the the nine hour music and dance marathon in the Strawberry Fields venue of the Chelsea sim, it will no doubt remains vivid in memory for a while, The event commenced at 1pm and wound down at 10pm when the weary party goers reluctantly made their way home to their respective graveyards.
It took some courage for anyone to venture past the dancing skeletons and step onto the spider infested dance floor. Those who sought the safety of the lawns had to contend with sharp toothed worms (a la the film “Dune” , but thankfully not as big) lunging at them from their burrows. Those that danced their way to the concert’s death knell were treated to the rare sight of SL’s one and only Super Gecko riding on the back of one of those beasts. A weird sight – even for Halloween.
Attendees certainly got into the spirit of things with witches, angels, ghosts and skeletons dancing sheet by jowl with demons, killer dolls and something that looked like a cross between a shark and The Hulk.. Many live music fans had gone to a great deal of trouble to look gloriously horrible.
Alchemelic, set the scene with a spectacular synchronized light show set to music which heralded many Halloween themed songs from a variety of singer/songwriters commencing with the talented Aufwie and concluding with a memorable set by absurdly skilled Oblee.
Other performers included Thunderfoot, Kaklick Martin, Joe Paravane and the always surprising RoseDrop Rust..
DJ Dano Bookmite entertained party diehards with a meticulously curated set of Halloween songs that are still bouncing off the walls of my brain (“Who Ya Gonna Call?”) as I write.
