At last – your chance for immortality and glory! All entries will be entered into the Limerick of the Year 2024 Thinc book (or equivalent).

After the competition is finished (March) it will be made available to all entrants as a trans/copy no mod Thinc book (or equivalent).

WHAT, EXACTLY, IS A LIMERICK?

Some believe the exact dimension and form of a refreshing and hopefully amusing limerick isn’t that demanding but if you count beats its about

line 1 – 9 beats
line 2 – 9 beats
line 3 –  5 beats
line 5 –  5 beats
line 5 –  9 beats

with lines 1, 2, and 5 having the last words which rhyme
and lines 3 and 4 sharing a last word rhyme scheme

HOW DO I ENTER?

To enter send your limerick on 2 jpgs (full perms please)  as you want it to appear (one with and one without your name!). to me,  Klannex,  by February 1 st 2024 Use a landscape format please to fit well with finished book.

HOW WILL IT BE JUDGED?

Marks will be awarded purely on merit of the piece as a whole.  All limericks are supposed to be funny and to some extent boldly shocking. To this end the book and intended audience (also sim were it will be displayed to be judged) for the limericks should be PG (12 yo ).

Please note that the the appropriate jpg will be made available to others in the Thinc book only as a trans/copy item fully accredited to you and you retain all rights. the other will be destroyed after the competition.

The 2nd jpeg (your anonymous uncredited one) will be displayed as a prim at the Poetry Library during February, with all accepted entries display prims using a hover text script.

As each prim accumulates tips we can determine winners.  it’s a fair and convenient way to measure each poems success.
