TO ENTER
Write a poem of a length no less than 15 words and no longer than 51 lines which must center on the theme of
"Hotel Chelsea, Virtual or Actual and/or History or Occupants".
Consider both the New York City versions and the Virtual Hotel Chelsea when rounding out the theme. You don't need to include both, write on one or the other, the history of the SL version is obviously only 16 or 17 years deep, but the RL Chelsea is still vibrant and a beautiful old building in it's neighborhood and has such a colorful and storied existence.

A FEW RULES…
- ONLY ONE ENTRY per person. (Please do not use alternate IDs to enter more than once.) More than one entry, once discovered, will disqualify ALL submitted poems by that poet.
- Be sure you have polished and shone your poem and follow the requirements of the contest as we are unable to allow editing or rewrites nor will we do your work for you, once the notecard is in our possession.
- Participants must put their own FRESH and original poem on a full permissions notecard and drop the entry into one of the drop boxes located in or near Gallery 23 on the Virtual Hotel Chelsea sim at Lanestris.
- The notecard name must include your avatar’s ID and the words “Chelsea Birthday” if you do not, your poem will be disqualified.
- Please title your poem and do not include any names of current SL residents inside the content of your poem. This will disqualify it.
HOW WE WILL JUDGE ENTRIES…
The contest entry closes at 12 Noon SLT on June 9th, 2024 as the notecard poems will be made fully anonymous and copied onto one document and distributed by Merry to the judging panel (anonymous) in a timely manner.
The judges will vote on their choice and eventually select only one poem from the eligible entries. They must communicate their winning choice to Merope Madrigal before 12 Noon SLT on the 28th of June, 2024 to allow time to arrange for photos at the Blue Angel Poetry Open Mic, held at a special venue at 4 P.M. the 30th of June when the winner will be announced during the event and the birthday celebration.
LEGAL PERMISSIONS AND LIMITATIONS
The contest is open to all SL residents, the poet must be at least 18 years of age in reality. (IE have payment info on file)
Any poem with racist, obscene, or sexually explicit content that is offensive to the judges and Merope Madrigal, or is against the Linden Labs Terms of Service will be disqualified and not included in the readings on the 30th.
The decisions are final and any identities will be revealed at the discretion of Merope and the Judges.
Submitting a notecard to the contest, however, grants Merope Madrigal and Virtual Chelsea management the right to have at least the winning poem included in the blog posts about the Virtual Chelsea by a well-known SL blogger and to mention your avatar name in the blog. The winner will be informed of the details before the blog posting.
